Is it REALLY the end of Summer??
The MDUUC Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month. All are welcome to attend. Below are some highlights of the meeting. I hope you will add comments and at least correct my grammar. Maybe I should offer a reward for the person who finds the most errors.
The meeting last night was energetic and productive. The Board had its annual retreat all day on Saturday where we generated many interesting ideas and objectives for the year and we are excited to start to working on them.
Important Dates!!!

Committee Fair - OCT 6
Stay tuned for Leadership Summit dates - end of September and beginning of October.
Governance
The Board posted the Description of Board Governance on the MDUUC website. Please do take a look. The board would like to get your feedback.
Objectives
The Board approved the
Board objectives for the 2013-2014.
The goals include the following:
+ Deepening
the implementation of the Congregation’s Vision In Action goals through Church
Councils and Committees.
+Expand communication
and education to support growth, including Congregation’s adoption of updated
Covenant of Right Relations.
+Work towards
adoption of a long range financial plan and continue related conversations
about facility needs.
+Support an expanded
understanding of Membership including support for membership integration,
leadership development, year-round stewardship and avenue for youth membership.
Stewardship
Steve Hirsh, chair of
the Stewardship Committee, presented data on the 2012-2013 annual pledge
drive. He also introduced
the plans for the stewardship committee development of a “Year Round
Stewardship Program” that will acknowledge
and celebrate the many aspects of stewardship that extend beyond a Member’s
annual pledge. The proposal will
be brought to the Board in November for Board approval.
Leadership Summit
Based on feedback from last year, the Leadership Summit will take place
on two different days. October 12
will be the main session of the Summit and will have the a state of the church
presentation by Leslie Takahashi-Morris, team building training by Kathy Tepliz
and dynamic discussion led by exciting guest speaker(s). An earlier session in
late September will be on the “Nuts and Bolts” of how the church operates
(conference room requests, committee responsibilities, Beacon submissions, etc). See Jeff Galanti for more info.
Committee Fair
The Committee Fair will be held on October 6th. This is an opportunity for all church
members to find out about the amazing work MDUUC committees do and for
committees to recruit new members.
Bring on the M&Ms. Please contact David Platt or Kristen Taylor for
more information.
Youth
The Youth representatives described the enthusiasm of the YRUU when
asked for Board rep volunteers this year. Many hands went up at their meeting. The Board looks forward to working with all youth who would like to attend
the Board meetings this year as Board reps.
WOW - you made it to the end. What do you think about the Board Objectives this year? Any questions? Thanks and enjoy!
